Yellow Tomato — Pomodoro
View on Chrome Web StoreChrome will indicate if you already have this installed.
Overview
Yellow Tomato is a Pomodoro timer that automatically blocks
distracting sites — but only while you're focusing. The moment
your break starts, the blocker turns off. No schedules, no
willpower negotiation, no "did I remember to turn focus mode on?"
Free forever. No account. No cloud sync. No telemetry. Your
data never leaves your browser.
⸻
🍅 How it works
1. Pick a task. Press Start.
2. Yellow Tomato counts down 25 minutes and silently blocks the
sites on your list.
3. The timer ends, a gentle notification fires, and your blocked
sites come back automatically.
4. Take your 5-minute break — guilt-free, because you earned it.
5. Repeat. Build a streak. Get things done.
You can change the focus and break lengths to anything from 1
to 60 minutes. Pause, skip, and resume work the way you'd expect.
⸻
✨ What's included (all free, all the time)
🎯 Pomodoro timer
Fully configurable focus and break durations. Pause, skip, and
resume cleanly. Smooth countdown, not a once-per-second jump.
🚫 Distraction blocker that respects your breaks
Add as many sites to your blocklist as you want — no 3-site cap.
The blocker only runs while the timer is running. The moment
you're on a break, the sites come back. Blocked pages show a
friendly screen with the live countdown and a motivational
message, not an angry error.
🔥 Focus streaks that don't punish you
Build a streak of consecutive days you hit your tomato goal.
Choose your own work week — Monday-to-Friday by default — so
weekends don't break your run. Miss one day after a strong week?
The streak auto-freezes with a rescue day, so a single off-day
doesn't wipe out weeks of progress. Motivating, not guilt-inducing.
✅ Drag-and-drop task list
Add what you're working on, reorder by priority, check things off
as you go. Bulk actions to clear completed tasks. Survives browser
restarts. Hide the section entirely if you prefer a pure timer.
📊 Honest focus statistics
Every session is logged locally. See completed AND abandoned
Pomodoros (we track both — most timers only count the wins).
Total focus time, daily/weekly/monthly/yearly views, interactive
charts, click any day to drill into individual sessions. 100%
on your device.
🔔 Browser badge & notifications
Show remaining minutes or completed sessions in the toolbar at a
glance — or turn the badge off entirely. Gentle end-of-session
notifications. Optional sound. Optional "Done" tab when a session
finishes.
🌍 Three languages
English, Español, Português (Brasil) — fully localized.

⭐ Why people pick Yellow Tomato
→ "It's the only Pomodoro extension that doesn't ask me to make
an account." A real complaint about every other major product
in this category.
→ "The blocker turns itself on when I press Start and off when I
take a break." Nobody else works this way.
→ "My streak survives a bad Tuesday." The rescue-day system means
I don't have to be perfect to stay motivated.
→ "I can see my actual completion rate, not just a vanity counter."
Abandoned sessions are tracked separately. Honest stats.
→ "It just works." Built on a tested state machine — no impossible
states, no race conditions, no surprises after Chrome updates.
⸻
🔒 Privacy by design
No account required. Ever.
No cloud sync.
No analytics or telemetry pings.
No host permissions for arbitrary sites.
All data stays on your device, in your browser.
We can't see what you're working on, and that's the point.
⸻
🍅 Built for focus, not for upsell
Most productivity apps want your email, your data, and eventually
your money. Yellow Tomato is built differently. It's a single
extension that does one thing well, made by a small team at
Productive Fish who write about deep work, time management, and
the Pomodoro technique at productive.fish.
We're not trying to upsell you to a Pro tier. There isn't one.
