Veil — Privacy Shield For

Veil is a privacy shield for WhatsApp Web. It blurs your conversations, locks the tab behind a PIN, and stops your browser from broadcasting your activity — so the people around you, and anyone watching your screen, see nothing you didn't choose to show.
Everything happens on your device. Veil has no servers, no analytics, no account, and no network requests. Your messages never leave your browser.

★ SCREEN PRIVACY — BLUR YOUR CHATS
Blur message previews in the chat list, the open conversation, contact names, and profile photos. Media and link previews can be hidden too. Move your mouse over any chat to reveal it instantly, then watch it blur again when you move away. There's an adjustable blur-strength slider, and an option to keep your active chat readable while everything else stays private. Ideal for screen-sharing on calls, working in cafés and open-plan offices, or anyone who reads over your shoulder.

★ PIN LOCK — LOCK WHATSAPP WEB
Put a PIN in front of WhatsApp Web. Veil can lock automatically after a period of inactivity, and lock every time the tab loads. A panic shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+L) locks the screen instantly. Your PIN is hashed on your device with SHA-256 — it is never stored in plain text and never transmitted anywhere.

★ STEALTH MODE — STOP BROADCASTING
Go quiet. Veil can hide your "online" and "last seen" status, suppress read receipts (blue ticks), and hide the "typing…" indicator from other people. Desktop notifications can be made incognito — no sender name, no message text — and the browser tab title is kept clean so a glance never gives you away. Stealth features attach to WhatsApp Web at runtime and degrade gracefully: a live status dot in the popup shows you exactly what's active.

Install Veil, open web.whatsapp.com, and click the Veil icon to open the control panel. Toggle the features you want. Settings apply instantly and are remembered for next time.

A note on honesty: blur, PIN lock, clean notifications and the tab-title cleaner are robust and reliable. The advanced Stealth hooks (online status, read receipts, typing) depend on WhatsApp Web's internal behavior and may vary as WhatsApp updates — Veil shows a live indicator for each so you always know what's working.
