Overview
Watch Twitch and Kick the way they were meant to be - without disruptive video ads.
StreamShield is a lightweight Chrome extension that blocks pre-roll and mid-roll ads on Twitch and Kick. No userscripts, no custom filter lists, and no fiddly setup—install, open a stream, and go.

What it does
• Blocks pre-roll and mid-roll video ads on Twitch and Kick live streams
• Twitch VOD: works to strip stitched ad breaks and reduce VOD ad playback (Twitch changes this often; effectiveness can vary)
• Seamless recovery: when ads are removed, the player is nudged back to clean playback instead of leaving you on a black screen
• Powered by VAFT: uses the well-known open-source VAFT approach for Twitch live ad handling, extended with StreamShield’s own layers (VOD, UI, sync-friendly settings)

Stream recovery (watchdog)
Sometimes the player can stall after an ad is intercepted. StreamShield’s watchdog watches playback in the background and tries to recover—first with a quick pause/play cycle, then a tab reload if the stream still won’t recover.

Conflict detection
If another Twitch-focused blocker might be fighting StreamShield, the popup can warn you so you can disable the duplicate and get smoother playback.

Privacy
StreamShield does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data. It only runs on Twitch and Kick. Settings and stats stay on your device (with optional sync for preferences where the extension uses chrome.storage.sync).

Permissions (why we need them)
• storage - remembers your toggles, stats, and preferences locally (and syncs settings if you use sync)
• tabs - lets recovery logic reload or focus the tab when playback is stuck
• context menus / notifications - whitelist from the page and optional milestone or support-mode notices (if your shipped build includes them)
