Once connected, the extension syncs your Substack newsletter metrics — subscriber counts, open rates, click rates, and post statistics — with your StackAds publisher dashboard every 12 hours. Your profile always reflects your latest performance, so advertisers see accurate numbers when browsing the marketplace.

Privacy-first design:
Your Substack session cookie (substack.sid) NEVER leaves your browser. The extension reads the cookie locally, fetches your metrics directly from Substack's API within the browser, and sends only the resulting aggregated data to StackAds servers. This is fundamentally more secure than handing over your credentials.

One-click connect:
Connecting takes seconds. Log in to Substack in Chrome, open the extension, paste your StackAds API token, tick the consent checkbox, and click Connect. That's it — syncing begins immediately.

Instant disconnect:
You are always in control. Click Disconnect at any time and all local data is cleared from your browser instantly. No lingering cookies, no stored tokens.

Background sync:
The extension syncs in the background every 12 hours via Chrome's Alarms API, and triggers an immediate sync whenever you visit your Substack dashboard — so your StackAds profile is always fresh without any manual effort.

Secure data transfer:
Only aggregated metrics data — subscriber counts, open rates, post views, reads, shares, and likes — is sent to StackAds over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). No personal subscriber data, no email addresses, and no session tokens are ever transmitted.

Transparent permissions:
Every permission the extension requests is explained in plain English. We only ask for what we need: read your substack.sid cookie locally, store your connection status, and schedule background syncs.

PRIVACY & SECURITY

We believe great software shouldn't come at a cost to your privacy. Your Substack session cookie is used exclusively within your browser to fetch your own newsletter metrics — it is never transmitted to StackAds or any third party. Only the resulting aggregated stats leave your device.

StackAds uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2+) for all data transmission and stores your metrics securely in the cloud for the sole purpose of powering your publisher profile and matching you with relevant advertisers. Your data belongs to you.
