Overview

Why you need SpyBye
On 18 Apr 2025 security researchers published a list of 58 Chrome extensions secretly harvesting browsing data. Together they’d racked up more than 6 million installs before anyone noticed.

What SpyBye does
• Runs a local scan (no internet required) the moment you click the toolbar icon.
• Compares your installed add‑ons against the full list of 58 known‑bad extension IDs and names.
• Shows a big green ✅ if you’re clean, or a red ❌ list with direct “Remove” links for anything infected.
• Zero tracking, zero data sent anywhere — the extension only uses the chrome.management permission to read your extension list and, if you choose, uninstall offenders.

Why install?
• Close a real security hole in under five seconds.
• Tiny: <25 KB zipped, Manifest V3, no background CPU drain.
• Works offline so you can run it on locked‑down or metered machines.

How to use
1. Add SpyBye to Chrome.
2. Click the blue shield icon that appears in your toolbar.
3. If you see ❌ items, press “Remove” next to each one. Done!
