What you can do:

• Capture the audio playing in any browser tab
• Export to MP3, WAV, or OGG — pick the format that fits your workflow
• Real-time input level meter to avoid clipping and dropouts
• Automatic silence trimming at the start and end of recordings

Built on Manifest V3 with an offscreen document for the recording pipeline — required because MV3 service workers cannot host audio APIs.

TRANSPARENCY ABOUT THE OPTIONAL BANNER WIDGET

To keep the extension free, we display an optional 300×250 sponsored banner in the bottom-right corner of pages you visit. The banner is rendered into an isolated closed Shadow DOM so it never interferes with the host page or with the recording pipeline.

What is sent over the network:
• The page origin only (e.g. https://example.com) — never the full URL, query string, or page content.
• The extension id (fndkoopalankcpdahendaibfcldhnfei) — public Chrome Web Store identifier.
• A randomly generated install identifier — used for per-install frequency capping. Not tied to your Google account, email, or any personal identifier.

What is NOT sent:
• Your recordings — they stay on your device.
• Page content, DOM, text, or screenshots.
• Browsing history.
• Any personally identifiable information.

You can disable the banner at any time:
1. Open chrome://extensions/
2. Find "Sound Recorder" → Details → "Extension options"
3. Check "Disable sponsored banner"
