Overview
SnapText OCR turns any image into selectable, copyable text — instantly, privately, right in your browser.
No accounts. No cloud uploads. No subscriptions. Every scan runs entirely on your device using Tesseract.js, the same battle-tested OCR engine trusted by developers worldwide.
✦ HOW IT WORKS
Three ways to grab text from any image:
① Right-click any image → "Extract Text with SnapText"
See a photo, screenshot, infographic, or meme with text? Right-click and choose SnapText from the context menu. Done.
② Select Area
Click the SnapText icon in your toolbar, then hit "Select Area." Draw a box over any part of your screen — a chart, a PDF embedded in a webpage, a video frame, anything. SnapText captures that region and extracts the text.
③ Paste from Clipboard
Copied a screenshot? Hit "Paste Image" (or Ctrl+V in the popup) and SnapText reads whatever's on your clipboard.
✦ FEATURES
◉ Right-Click OCR — Works on any image on any webpage. Just right-click → extract.
◉ Area Selection Tool — Draw a box over any part of the visible page. Perfect for embedded PDFs, charts, code snippets in screenshots, or images that can't be right-clicked.
◉ Clipboard OCR — Paste screenshots or images directly into the popup for instant extraction.
◉ One-Click Copy — Extracted text goes to your clipboard with one click.
◉ Scan History — Your last 20 extractions are saved locally so you can revisit or re-copy without re-scanning.
◉ Dark Mode — Toggle between light and dark themes. SnapText remembers your preference.
◉ Zero Network Requests — SnapText never phones home. All processing happens in your browser via Tesseract.js WebAssembly — no data leaves your device.
◉ No Account Required — Install and go. No sign-up, no login, no email.
