Overview

Snap OCR turns any picture of text into real, copyable text — completely offline. Click the toolbar icon, drag a box over any region of a web page, and the text inside it is recognized right on the page and copied to your clipboard.

🖱️ GRAB TEXT FROM ANYTHING
• Pull text out of images, screenshots, scanned PDFs, infographics, charts and diagrams.
• Copy text that a site has made un-selectable or locked inside a picture.
• Just drag a rectangle over the part you want — that's it.

🔒 100% OFFLINE & PRIVATE
• All optical character recognition runs on YOUR device using a bundled WebAssembly engine.
• No uploads. No servers. No account. No API key. The extension makes zero network requests.
• The pixels it reads and the text it recognizes never leave your browser.
• Works with no internet connection at all.

⚡ SIMPLE BY DESIGN
• Recognized text appears in a clean panel and is copied automatically.
• One click to copy again, or "Try again" to re-select.
• Press Esc any time to cancel.
• Recognizes English text.

Perfect for students, researchers, writers, and anyone who needs to lift text out of an image without sending it to a cloud service. Free, with no ads and no tracking.
