SilentGuard: AI Security and Data Leak Prevention

SilentGuard is a security extension designed to protect your organisation's most sensitive data without slowing down your workforce. By intercepting prompts locally before they leave the browser, SilentGuard prevents employees from accidentally leaking Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Protected Health Information (PHI), credentials, and intellectual property to public Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT.

Unlike traditional Data Loss Prevention (DLP) tools that require complex network proxies or months of infrastructure changes, SilentGuard brings the security layer directly to the Edge.

Key Capabilities:

Dual-Engine Local Processing SilentGuard operates 100 percent on the user's device. Every prompt is scanned locally using two powerful methods:
High-Speed Regex Matching: Instantly identifies structured secrets, API keys, credentials, and custom data patterns.
Bundled Machine Learning (NER): Detects unstructured sensitive data (like names, locations, and organizations) using an optimized internal AI model running directly inside the browser.
Pre-Transmission Interception We hook directly into browser core web requests (Fetch API and WebSockets). If sensitive data is detected, SilentGuard blocks or redacts the text before the network request is ever transmitted.

Absolute Privacy Guarantee Your prompts, code, and sensitive data never leave the machine for analysis. SilentGuard does not use external APIs or third-party clouds to scan your text. When a violation is logged for auditing, we only securely transmit the metadata (e.g., the policy rule triggered) back to your dashboard. The actual prompt content remains exclusively on the employee's machine.

SilentGuard only makes its presence known if an employee attempts to paste a sensitive document, API key, or customer record into an AI chat—at which point it safely blocks the transmission and provides a clear security warning.
