Overview
Python Shell is a private local Python workspace that runs inside Chrome. Use it to test Python code, practice programming, learn syntax, and run quick experiments without opening a separate desktop app or cloud notebook.
The core shell is free and designed to stay useful on its own. You can type Python directly into the console, paste examples, use multi-line input, recall command history, and run standard Python library imports supported by the bundled Pyodide runtime.
Privacy-first design:
Python code and console history stay on your device.
The free shell does not require an account.
No telemetry is required for the core Python console.
The extension is designed for local Python practice in Chrome.
Optional PythonShell Pro:
PythonShell Pro is an optional paid upgrade for users who want extra comfort and to support continued development. Pro currently unlocks Dark Mode, with future local Pro upgrades planned.
If a user chooses Pro, ExtensionPay and Stripe may process payment and subscription status. PythonShell checks paid status only to unlock Pro features such as Dark Mode. Your Python code and console history are not sent with Pro status checks.
Features:
-Python 3.7.4 through bundled Pyodide
-Local Python console in a Chrome extension popup or full tab
-Multi-line paste support
-Console history saved locally
-Input history with up/down arrows
-Standard library imports, except browser/runtime-limited modules
-Help panel with shortcuts and usage notes
