Native Auto Dark Toggle

Overview
Native Auto Dark gives you per-tab control over Chrome’s built-in automatic dark mode renderer.
Instead of injecting CSS, applying color filters, or rewriting web pages, this extension uses Chrome’s native Auto Dark Mode override through the Chrome DevTools Protocol. The result is a cleaner way to darken websites using Chrome’s own rendering engine.
Use it when Chrome’s global Auto Dark Mode flag is too broad and you only want native dark mode on specific tabs.
Main features:
• Enable Chrome’s native auto-dark rendering on the current tab
• Disable native auto-dark rendering on the current tab
• Enable native auto-dark rendering across normal tabs for the current browser session
• Disable session-wide native auto-dark mode
• No custom CSS injection
• No page rewriting
• No color-filter overlay
• No tracking
• No analytics
• No external server calls
Important note about the debugger permission:
This extension uses Chrome’s debugger API only to call Chrome DevTools Protocol’s native Auto Dark Mode command for tabs. Because debugger access is powerful, Chrome may show a security banner while the extension is attached to a tab.
That banner is expected. It is not an error.
Native Auto Dark is designed for users who want precise control over Chrome’s own automatic dark mode behavior without using traditional dark-mode extensions that modify page styles.
Limitations:
• Does not work on chrome:// pages, Chrome Web Store pages, or other restricted browser pages
• Some websites may not render perfectly in automatic dark mode
• Chrome may show a debugger warning banner while active
• Session-wide mode resets when Chrome restarts
Privacy:
Native Auto Dark does not collect, transmit, sell, or share user data. It does not read page content or send browsing activity anywhere. Temporary tab state is stored only in Chrome’s session storage so the extension can remember which tabs have native auto-dark mode enabled during the current browser session.
