The Municibid Auction Assistant is the free companion extension for Municibid, a leading government surplus auction marketplace. It puts three powerful tools right in your browser so you never miss a deal on surplus vehicles, heavy equipment, boats, aircraft, IT equipment, kitchen equipment, electronics, and more from 7,000+ state and local government agencies, authorities, schools and universities across the US and Canada.

**Auction Alerts**
Set alerts on any Municibid listing with a single right-click. You'll get desktop notifications at 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 5 minutes before an auction closes (fully customizable). Each notification shows the listing title, current bid, and time remaining. Click it and you're right back on the listing, ready to bid.

**Nearby Auctions**
Enter your ZIP code or use your current location to discover auctions near you. Browse results on an interactive map or scroll through listing cards, sorted by distance. The extension even injects distance badges directly onto Municibid pages so you always know how far away an item is while you browse.

**Category Scouts (Saved Searches)**
Create up to 10 "Scouts" that automatically watch for new listings matching your keywords, categories, and price range. The extension checks for new matches throughout the day and sends you a notification when something pops up. Right-click any search or category page on Municibid to save it as a Scout instantly.

**Works right on the page**
The Auction Assistant enhances your Municibid browsing experience with on-page features:
• Distance badges next to every listing's location
• Alert indicators on listings you're watching
• Option to dim listings outside your search radius

**Your data stays with you**
No account required. No backend servers. All your alerts, scouts, and settings sync across your Chrome browsers using Chrome's built-in sync. Location lookups use OpenStreetMap's free geocoding service. Your data never touches a third-party server.

**How to get started:**
1. Install the extension
2. Click the icon and set your location (ZIP or Current Location)
3. Right-click any listing to set an alert - Choose "Set Alert for this Auction"
4. Right-click any category or search page to create a Scout - Choose "Save Search as Scout"
5. Open the Nearby tab to explore auctions on the map
