Overview
Grabbox
Chrome Extension · v1.3 · Manifest V3
Your personal side-panel collection for everything worth saving on the web.
Drag images, highlight text, right-click links — Grabbox catches it all and keeps it organized, offline, and private. No account. No cloud. No limits.
📦 What is Grabbox?
Grabbox turns Chrome's side panel into a smart, always-visible collection tray. While you browse, anything that catches your eye — a product image, a quote, a link, a reference — can be captured in seconds and stored in neat, searchable cards right inside your browser.
Unlike bookmarks, Grabbox stores the actual content alongside its source, date, and your personal notes. Unlike cloud tools, everything stays 100% on your device. No sign-up, no sync, no monthly fee.
✨ Key Features
Two ways to capture — whatever works for the site
▸ Drag & Drop — grab images, selected text, or links and drop them straight into the panel.
▸ Right-click context menu — works on any site even if drag is blocked. "Save image / text / link to Grabbox" appears right in Chrome's native menu.
Smart card collection
▸ Images — displayed as visual thumbnails with copy, download, and URL buttons.
▸ Text — saves the exact selection with source domain and timestamp.
▸ Links — stored with display text and full URL, opens in new tab on click.
Folders & organization
▸ Create unlimited named folders for any project or topic.
▸ Assign cards to folders directly from the card footer dropdown.
▸ Filter view by folder — see only what matters right now.
▸ Delete a folder without losing its cards — they return to All.
Search & filter
▸ Live full-text search across content, domain, alt text, and your notes.
▸ Type filter tabs: All / Images / Text / Links.
▸ Combine folder + type + search for instant precision.
Personal notes on every card
▸ Each card has a collapsible note field — add context, reminders, or tags.
▸ Notes auto-resize as you type and save silently without disrupting your flow.
▸ Notes are included in the export file.
Copy images to clipboard
▸ "Copy" button on image cards loads the image and writes it to your clipboard as PNG.
▸ Paste directly into Paint, Photoshop, Word, Telegram, or any app that accepts images.
▸ If the site blocks CORS, falls back to copying the image URL instead.
Four themes
▸ Dark · Light · Sepia · AMOLED — switch anytime from the panel header.
▸ Theme preference is saved and restored between sessions.
Export
▸ One click exports everything (or just the current folder) to a plain .txt file.
▸ Includes type, date, source URL, content, and notes for every card.
🔒 Privacy — Local-Only Storage
Grabbox never connects to any external server. All data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your own machine.
There is no account system, no telemetry, no analytics, and no data collection of any kind. Your saved items remain yours — on your device, under your control, forever.
🛡️ Permissions Explained
▸ sidePanel — required to display Grabbox in Chrome's side panel UI.
▸ storage — saves your cards and settings locally in the browser.
▸ contextMenus — adds 'Save to Grabbox' to the right-click menu.
▸ downloads — used for the Download button on image cards.
▸ clipboardWrite — writes image pixels to clipboard for the Copy button.
▸ host permissions (<all_urls>) — required for drag capture and context menu to work on any website.
👥 Who Is It For?
Grabbox is designed for anyone who browses with purpose:
▸ Designers & creatives — build visual mood boards and reference libraries from across the web.
▸ Researchers & students — collect quotes, articles, and sources while reading — without losing the page.
▸ Shoppers — save product images and links from multiple stores side by side for comparison.
▸ Writers & journalists — clip text passages and annotate them with personal notes on the spot.
▸ Developers — bookmark code snippets, documentation links, and technical references.
▸ Privacy-conscious users — get a Raindrop or Pinterest alternative that never sends your data anywhere.
