Gotcha

Overview
Gotcha is a Chrome extension for language learners. Before each
foreign-language YouTube video plays, Gotcha pulls the captions,
sends them to an AI model, and produces a one-page learner briefing
tailored to the video:
• A short summary of what the video is about
• Useful phrases with translations and usage notes
• Vocabulary highlights, filtered against words you've already
marked as "known"
• Cultural and grammar notes when the video calls for them
• A CEFR-style difficulty badge (A1 / A2 / B1 / B2 / C1)
This means you walk into each video already knowing the hard parts,
instead of getting lost five seconds in.
Languages
We're starting with German — Gotcha activates on YouTube videos
that have German captions. More languages are on the roadmap; the
architecture is multi-language-ready and we'll roll them out as we
validate the briefing quality for each.
How it works
1. Open any YouTube video with captions in a supported language.
2. Gotcha automatically pauses the video and shows the briefing as
an overlay.
3. Click "Start video" when you're ready — the briefing stays
accessible while you watch.
4. Mark phrases or words as "I know this" so future briefings skip
them.
Plans
• Free — 3 briefings per day, up to 30-minute videos.
• Pro (€5/mo or €50/yr) — 15 briefings per day, up to 90-minute
videos.
• Pro+ (€15/mo or €160/yr) — 60 briefings per day, up to 4-hour
videos.
Plus an anonymous mode that lets you try one briefing without
signing in.
