Overview
Notification Settings for Google Docs adds a small widget to the Google Docs toolbar that shows your current notification preferences at a glance.
WHAT IT DOES
• Displays your current comment and edit notification settings as a compact pill button in the toolbar
• A colored dot gives you a quick visual summary: green means all notifications are on, yellow means some, gray means none
• Click the widget to expand inline controls where you can change your settings for Comments (All / Yours / None) and Edits (Changes / None)
• Changes are applied by interacting with the native Google Docs Notification Settings dialog on your behalf
WHY IT EXISTS
Google Docs requires you to open Tools → Notification settings every time you want to check or change your preferences. If you work across many shared documents, this gets tedious. This extension
surfaces that information directly in the toolbar so you can see and adjust it in one click.
HOW IT WORKS
The extension reads your notification preferences by briefly opening the built-in Notification Settings dialog, reading the selected options, and closing it. All settings are cached locally on your
device for faster loading on return visits. No data is collected, transmitted, or shared with any external server.
PERMISSIONS
• "storage" — used to cache your notification preferences locally on your device, per document
• "alarms" — used to periodically clean up stale cached data
• Host access to docs.google.com — required to display the toolbar widget and read the notification settings dialog within Google Docs
