Setup

1. Install the extension.
2. Add Gmail as an app:
👉 ⠇ Menu → More Tools → Create Shortcut...

This is an optimized fork of the "Gmail app badge notification" extension that uses no CPU or bandwidth.

Instead of polling your Gmail inbox RSS feed, this version of the extension injects a tiny script into Gmail. Gmail already shows unread count in its window title. This extension detects when Gmail updates its title, then grabs the unread count and shows it as a badge on Gmail's icon. It's fast, reliable, and efficient!
