Overview
Find Preprint: Open-access versions of scholarly articles, one click away.
Find Preprint helps researchers, students, and curious readers access scientific literature without hitting a paywall. When you land on a journal article page, the extension automatically looks up the article's DOI and checks whether a freely available preprint or open-access version exists elsewhere. If one is found, you can open it instantly from the extension's popup.
How it works
The extension reads the DOI from the page you're viewing and queries trusted open-access sources to see if an author-deposited preprint or accepted manuscript is available. You stay on the publisher's page until you choose to open the open-access version, so nothing happens behind your back.
What you can do with it
Quickly check whether a paywalled article has a free, legitimate alternative.
Save time during literature reviews by avoiding manual searches across multiple repositories.
Support open science by making author-shared versions easier to discover.
Privacy
Find Preprint only looks up the DOI of the page you are actively viewing. It does not track your browsing, build a profile, or share data with third parties.
If you run into a paper that should have an open-access version but isn't being detected, feedback is welcome, it helps improve the matching for everyone.
