FileShot is a privacy-first file sharing extension that encrypts every file on your device before upload. No one — not even FileShot — can access your data.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Drag & drop any file into the extension panel (or click to browse)
2. FileShot encrypts it locally with AES-256-GCM
3. Only the encrypted data is uploaded
4. You get a share link with the decryption key in the URL fragment
5. The key never touches any server — only you and the people you share the link with can decrypt the file

CORE FEATURES

Zero-Knowledge Encryption
Every file is encrypted client-side with AES-256-GCM before it ever leaves your device. The server stores only encrypted blobs. Decryption keys live exclusively in the URL fragment (#), which browsers never send to servers. This is true zero-knowledge architecture.

Screenshot Capture
Capture the current tab with one click or keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+S). The screenshot is automatically encrypted and uploaded, and you receive a shareable link instantly.

Area Selection Capture
Draw a rectangle on any page to capture exactly the area you want (Alt+Shift+A). Perfect for highlighting bugs, quoting content, or sharing specific sections of a page.

Page Media Scanner
Scan any webpage to find all images and videos. Browse the results, preview them, and download or upload any of them with one click.

Password Protection
Add an optional password to any shared file. Recipients must enter the correct password before they can decrypt and download. Passwords are applied locally via PBKDF2 key derivation.

Expiration Control
Set files to automatically expire after 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, or never. Expired links stop working permanently and the encrypted data is deleted from the server.

QR Code Generation
Generate a QR code for any share link so you can quickly share files with mobile devices or in-person.

Upload History
All your uploads are tracked locally in the extension. Copy links, view file details, or delete entries from your history at any time.

Context Menu Integration
Right-click any image on a page to upload and share it through FileShot. Right-click links or selected text to share content quickly.
