Overview
Bolden — Read with focus. Stay with the page.
Reading on the internet is hard. Your eyes skip. Your mind wanders. You re-read the same sentence three times. Bolden is built for exactly that problem.
Bolden applies a subtle visual gradient to the text on any webpage — making the beginning of each word, sentence, or paragraph visually stronger, then easing off — so your brain always has a clear anchor to follow. It's designed specifically to help people with ADHD, dyslexia, and attention difficulties stay on the page longer with less effort.
How it works
Bolden transforms the text on any blog, article, or long-form page by applying one of two visual effects:
Font weight mode — the first letter of a reading unit is bold (700 weight), and each subsequent letter gradually steps down to regular weight (400), giving your eye a natural starting point on every word, sentence, or paragraph.
Opacity mode — letters fade from full black (#000000 at 100%) to a softer grey (50% opacity) across the reading unit, reducing visual noise without hiding any content.
You control the strength
Choose how far the gradient travels:
Word — each word has its own gradient. Great for dense, technical text.
Sentence — the gradient flows across a full sentence. Good for narrative reading.
Paragraph — only the first word of each paragraph is bolded, drawing your eye to every new section.
Customise your reading experience
Font style — switch between a clean sans-serif (Lato) or a warm serif (Noto Serif)
Font size — Small (14px), Medium (16px), or Large (18px)
All settings are saved automatically and restored on every visit
Works everywhere you read
Bolden activates on any webpage — news articles, blog posts, documentation, Wikipedia, newsletters, and more. It finds the main content area intelligently and leaves navigation, sidebars, and UI elements untouched.
Completely private
Bolden never reads, stores, or transmits your browsing data. There are no servers, no analytics, no accounts. Everything runs entirely inside your browser.
