Overview
Comprehensible Input Monitor is a private-beta Chrome extension for language learners who follow a comprehensible-input approach. It quietly watches your YouTube tabs, classifies whether the audio is Spanish, and accumulates how many minutes of input you have actually consumed.
What it does:
- Detects whether the YouTube video you are watching is mostly Spanish, using player metadata, audio track info, and on-screen text signals.
- Records each watch session locally: title, channel, canonical URL, language classification, start/end time, watched seconds.
- Shows daily totals and current playback status in the toolbar popup.
- Optionally syncs sessions to a web app you control (Web Sync), so you can see progress over time.
What it does NOT do:
- It does not act on pages outside of youtube.com / youtube-nocookie.com.
- It does not collect form data, passwords, or browsing history.
- It does not sell or share your data with third parties.
This listing is unlisted and shared with friends and family for a limited closed beta. By installing it you are opting in to that early-access program.
